Members questioned whether the sign would be powered using a sustainable power source and noted that this had not been proposed as part of the application.  The Committee also expressed the view that the hours of illumination should be restricted.  In light of these matters, it was felt that the item should be deferred.

To allow officers to speak with applicant to investigate alternative power options and the potential to control the hours of illumination.

Comment:

Members expressed the view that the application should be deferred in order to allow all parties to discuss the application to try to resolve the concerns raised by the Town Council, in particular the location of the compound.

Officer advice was provided at the meeting to clarify that it would not be possible to change the location as part of this application unless the revised position was within the ‘red line’ as submitted with the application.  Any other location would require the submission of a new planning application.

Decision:

Defer

Conditions / Reasons:

As detailed above.
