That the minutes of the meeting held on 10 July 2017 be signed by the Chairman as a correct record, subject to the amendment under item 12 that the New Forest Children’s University operated in the east of the District (not the west as stated).

Chairman's Announcements

·        To receive a short presentation from It’s Your Choice, one of the Chairman’s charities for the current year.

Presentation from It’s Your Choice

Members received a presentation from Chris Carey, Director, It’s Your Choice, which was one of the Chairman’s chosen charities for her year in office. It’s Your Choice offered free information, advice, guidance, and counselling to young people aged 12-25 in the New Forest area. They helped with issues faced by young people including homelessness and accommodation, drug and alcohol misuse, sexual health advice, and getting into education, work, or training. Members were given details on the background of the Charity, its current services and its key achievements.

 

Members thanked Mr Carey for his presentation. The Chairman hoped that members would support her fundraising efforts for this worthy charity.

 

Charity Abseil

On Sunday 27 August 2017, the Chairman had abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower to raise funds for her two chosen charities. The Chairman thanked all those who supported her in this event.

 

Merchant Navy Day

On Friday 1 September, the Chairman raised the Merchant Navy Day flag at Appletree Court, Lyndhurst. The Vice-Chairman, the Leader of the Council and the Chief Executive were also present.

 

Civic Day

The Chairman hosted her Civic day on Thursday 7 September, when other civic heads from Hampshire, Dorset and the Isle of Wight were shown the delights of Bucklers Hard and Setley Ridge Vineyard.  This had been a great opportunity to showcase the District.

 

Forthcoming Events

The Chairman announced that she would be hold a charity quiz at the Red Lion Pub in Boldre on Monday 6 November. She would also be hosting a charity dinner at Palace House, Beaulieu on Saturday 9 December. Further details on these events would be circulated to members shortly.

Leader's Announcements

Minutes:

The Leader of the Council asked members to nominate their favourite businesses in their wards for this year's New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards. The awards celebrated the outstanding achievements of businesses across a range of categories including customer care, training & development and young person in business. One business selected from the winners of the individual categories would be named Business of the Year. Entries would be accepted until noon on 29 September and awards presented at Careys Manor Hotel on Wednesday 29 November.
